Samuel M. Plato
Samuel M. Plato (1882–1957) was an African-American architect and builder who is noted for his contributions to the community in Louisville and imaginative designs elsewhere in the country. A number of his designed structures are now listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, including the Broadway Temple A.M.E. Zion Church.
Plato was also the architect of the James Lees Memorial Presbyterian Church in 1914, which stayed in operation for 100 years. The Church has been remodeled. repurposed, and renamed as is now The James on Frankfort.
